Doing what he loved, 26-year-old, Armada, Michigan resident, Zach Marcath, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
Born on May 6, 1998 in Mt. Clemens, MI, to Alton and Donna (nee Stier) Marcath, he charmed the world with his handsome good looks and eternal artful playfulness. He graduated from Armada High School in 2016 and became a successful entrepreneur in many areas, including lawn service and automobile/farm-equipment renovation. He had a way of finding the diamond-in-the-rough, and then fixing and polishing things up to make the beauty visible to all. He made it look so easy. Most recently, he professionally used his mechanical talents full-time to bring comfort to people as the lead HVAC installer for Classic Heating and Cooling.
Zach generously shared his time and resources. He was always willing to help anyone in need. Anyone.
In his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and was a gun afficionado. He also created metal art pieces, but Zach's primary passions revolved around anything with a motor. He could be found snowmobiling, riding side-by-sides and four-wheelers, achieving success in tractor pulls and as an amazing driver in demolition derby events. With the focus of an Indy race car champ, he was even periodically known to push the speed limits on a scooter. He was a problem solver who honored his farm-family history by rebuilding equipment and tractors of all kinds. He never met a tractor he didn't like.
Zach was a creative, practical student of life, who excelled at everything he attempted. If he didn't know how to do something, he studied it until he could master it. One of the many areas in his life where this was evident was his participation in 4-H. Unfortunately for anyone who had to compete against him, for years and years, if there was a Grand Champion award to be had, Zach got it.
He loved all kinds of music. His perhaps not-so-secret superpower was making people smile when he would frequently erupt into song-and-dance mode. Oh, those moves! Zach embraced life with humor. His quick wit and physicality contributed to countless gut-busting belly laughs for those who were lucky enough to witness it. His smile will hold a special place in the hearts of many, always.
Zach is survived by his parents Alton and Donna Marcath; sister Rachel; grandparents David and Therese Stier; fiancée Rebecca Konarski, and by a three-story barn full of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who continue to love him. He is predeceased by his grandparents Herb and Cecilia Marcath.
The family invites you to honor his memory and share stories at the Kaatz Funeral Home in Richmond, 71235 Memphis Ridge Road, Monday, June 3, 2024 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, June 4 from 2 to 8 p.m. A funeral will be held at St. Mary's Mystical Rose Church in Armada, 24040 Armada Ridge Road, Wednesday, June 5 at 10:30 a.m., with a viewing period beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be in West Berlin Cemetery, Berlin Township.
