Obituary for Alice Ray

Alice Martha Hallauer Ray went to be with the Lord May 19, 2021.

A service of Praise and Thanksgiving in honor of her life was held Sunday, May 23rd, 5:00p.m. at Christ Church Sugar Land with Dr. Chappell Temple officiating.

She was born Alice Martha Hallauer on July 6, 1929 to Roland Henry and Margaret Edmiston Hallauer in Fort Worth, Texas.

Mrs. Ray graduated from Breckenridge High School in Breckenridge, Texas and from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas with a B.S. degree. At Southwestern she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, a member of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, and President of the Student Christian Association.

After graduating from Southwestern, she taught at Wynn Seale Middle School in Corpus Christi. While teaching at Wynn Seale, she met and married Rolor Edward Ray. They moved to Taft, Texas where she taught at Taft High School.

They moved to Corpus Christi where they lived for forty-five years. She taught at First United Methodist Church Day School from 1972 to 1984. Mrs. Ray also taught Sunday School classes, was a member of the Administrative Board, the Hospitality Committee, and President of the Jennie Hill Cooper Sunday School Class.

The Rays moved to Sugar Land, Texas in 2003 to be near their children and grandchildren. Mrs. Ray was a member of the Jubilee Sunday School Class, a Church Greeter, and a volunteer at East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry.

Survivors include son Wren Edward Ray, daughter Robin Ray Jordan and her husband Bill and two grandchildren - B.J. Jordan and Brittany Ray Jordan She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her husband Rolor Ray, mother Margaret E. Hallauer, father Roland H. Hallauer, brother Roland Victor Hallauer, sisters Ann Linda Hallauer, Jane H. Jones, Jean H. Steiner, and Mary H. Barnes.

Memorials may be made to Christ Church Sugar Land or First United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.
