Alice Mitsudo Sandow of Humble, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on December 21, 2015 at the age of 89. Alice was born on June 10, 1926 in Seattle, Washington to Sotaro and Asa Mitsudo. She grew up in Puyallup, Washington. In 1950 she earned her physical therapy degree from University of Pennsylvania. In 1952 while providing assistance with a polio epidemic in Houston, she met Kiyoshi Sandow. They married in 1956 and settled in Houston. After the birth of their son, Bryan, they moved to Baytown and lived in the Brownwood subdivision on Scott Bay. Following several floods and hurricanes, they moved to Crosby on the golf course where she became an avid golfer. She has been a loyal volunteer at Northeast Medical Hospital for the last 10 years. Alice was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was strong-willed, generous, kind, and she never met a stranger she wouldn't talk or listen to. She loved her family, friends, animals, travel, and food. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kiyoshi, and her sister Martha Tokumasu. She is survived by her son Bryan, his wife Danette, and three granddaughters, Lyndsey, Lauren, and Jordan, her sisters Ruth Kataoka and Mary Koide, her brother Ray Mitsudo, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016, in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church of Houston, 5300 Main Street, 713-620-6500. Alice was one-of-a-kind, and my life is richer for having known her.

Alice was my best friend as a Volunteer at the Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital. We had so much fund every Tuesday morning. She was the life of the morning shift. Many times Alice would call me at night and we would spend hours on the telephone. I assume she just wanted to talk. No one was a stranger to Alice. When she would call and I wasn't home, she would have a conversation with my husband as if she knew him. Every Tuesday when leaving home my husband would always say, you and Alice today right. I will miss her, in fact I miss her everyday. We often talked about when this time would come, but I always changed the subject.
She often spoke of her daughter-in-law and grand children, who were the love of her life. She loved you'll so much. May prayer is that God will continue to give strength to this family.
I love you Alice.

Alice had a love for life and people. She was a loyal friend and a joy to be with or talk to on the phone. Most of all everyone loved to play golf with her. I loved her dearly. Nell Johnson
