Andrew Dean Hoffman has gone to his heavenly home. He passed away in Austin,TX on Aug 2, 2023.
Drew was born in Galveston, TX on November 26,1989 to Robert Dean Hoffman and Elizabeth Byrnes Hoffman. He eventually welcomed sisters Katherine Fairleigh Hoffman (League City, TX) and Hallie Brooks Hoffman (Austin, TX). He leaves behind grandparents Mary Jane and Robert Hoffman of Sarasota FL, and Tina and Al Byrnes of Tyler, TX. Additional family members include Tiffany, Brian, Cooper and Graham (Kaylyn) Hoffman of Tampa, FL, Kristen and Bryon Cummins of Jacksonville, TX, Parrish and Michael Bruner and their children, Private Isabela Bruner and Private First-Class Mason Bruner (both serving in the U.S. Army) of Frisco, TX. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents Helen and Willard McGinnes of Plant City FL, Ann and Al Hoffman of Raleigh, NC, Marguerite and Burton Byrnes of Carlisle, MS, Christine and Tom Fairleigh of Pascagoula, MS.
Drew lived in Duncanville, TX for several years but most of his youth was spent in the Houston suburb of Kingwood. He graduated from Kingwood High School in 2008 where he was in KM4B and played tennis for KHS all four years. He started a racquet stringing business in high school. Drew attended Baylor University in Waco, TX, graduating with a degree in Management Information Systems in 2012. While at Baylor, a summer program in China sparked a keen interest in international business, finance, and technical engineering. The I5 program gave him the opportunity to work with college and graduate students from around the globe to find real solutions to current problems. His team presented a use for coconut shells by turning them into a flooring material and Drew won the program's top award for innovation and leadership. He began his career at General Motors in Austin and worked in tech for other companies including MCG and Yeti.
Drew continued to enjoy tennis, both as a player and attending matches. He loved going to Baylor sporting events of all kinds and held Bears season tickets from the moment McLane stadium opened. He developed deep interests in international currency trading and was continuously fascinated with new computer technologies. Drew was generous, witty and often described as a gentle giant. Friendships were extremely important to him and his loss has left many broken hearted and void of his smile and big bear hugs. He will especially be missed by dear friends including Rham Ketmayura, Sara Shank, Sargeant Joseph Miller, Officer John Lewis Brennan, Dylan Rodarte, and Brandon McDonald.
