Celestia Daye Scott

On Christmas Day in 1919 a baby girl was born to Ludie Crenshaw Reynolds and Fred Murray Reynolds. In honor of this holy day, her parents named her Celestia Daye. She was the third of four children and the only girl. A life long resident of Humble, Texas, Daye graduated from Charles Bender High School in 1938. She was escorted down the aisle by her high school sweetheart Kenneth Scott. On August 17, 1940, Kenneth and Daye were united in marriage in the Chapel at First Methodist Church in Humble, Texas. Through 67 years of marriage Daye and Kenneth lovingly shared the responsibility and joy of raising their five children in the same small town in which they were raised. Humble was the foundation of their lives punctuated by family vacations in their station wagons to Louisiana and Colorado to visit relatives. If ever there were an all-American family - the Scotts were it. While Kenneth worked at Sun Oil Company, Daye worked as a court clerk at the Harris County Courthouse in Humble for Judge Albert Lee. Daye was also an active Room Mother, Den Mother, PTA officer, Rainbow Girls Mother Advisor as well as many other activities to support her children. With seemingly little time for herself she still made time for Eastern Star, Methodist Women's Club and the Professional Women's Club of Humble. After her children left home and made lives for themselves, Daye and Kenneth spent time traveling throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.

Daye embodied the virtues of "The Greatest Generation" with grit and grace.

She was predeceased by the love of her life, Kenneth Scott and her three brothers Fred (Uncle Tootsie), Jim (Uncle Judd) and Tommy (TJ) Reynolds. She is survived by her three daughters Sandy Theis (Jack), Sheryl Kelley (David) and Alana Bryant (John) and her two sons Joel Scott (Sharon) and Allan Scott (Karen). She also leaves behind nine grandchildren Ken Theis (Twyla), Jeff Theis (Kelly), Sean Kelley (Michelle), Ryan Kelley, Todd Bryant (Kristin), Tara Fink (Dave), Ashley Bracken (Geoff), Ford Scott and Keith Scott. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren Amanda, Megan, Tia, Brittany, Justin, Jared, Grant, Madeline, Jace, Kade, Wesley, Wyatt and Sloane. She is survived by three great-great grandchildren Mason, Bennett and Brooklyn.

Daye's visitation and services were held at First United Methodist Church, 800 East Main Street, Humble, TX, the same church in which she and Kenneth were married 75 years ago and which she has been a member for 78 years. Visitation was at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 followed by her service at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment followed at Rosewood Memorial Park.
