Edmond Walker Sanders, age 82, of Kingwood, TX. passed away peacefully on February 1, 2018, in Atascocita, Texas. Born in Sodville, Texas, Walker grew up on a farm and was raised by his mother, Lillian Sanders along with his brothers Leroy and David. He graduated from Sinton High School and attended the University of Houston for 1 year before transferring to Texas A&I on a full basketball scholarship. While at A&I Walker met and married Billie Gatliff and graduated with a degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering. Walker's life revolved around his faith, family and career. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Brownsville, Tallowood Baptist Church and Second Baptist Church. He taught Sunday school and was active in missions. Walker loved basketball, playing in church leagues for years after college. Sailing and aviation were also passions which he shared with his family. He and Billie traveled extensively and Cloudcroft, New Mexico became a beloved second home for them. During his long career Walker worked more than 30 years in senior management in pipeline operations, design and engineering. He served as Vice President of Engineering-Group Technical Services at Enron. Prior to that he was Vice President-Operations at Transwestern and Houston Pipeline companies. Walker will be remembered for his stealthy sense of humor and his generosity to all he came across. He embodied Philippians 2:3; "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride but in humility consider others more important than yourself". Walker is survived by two daughters, Linda Sanders and Sheryl Tatroe; grandson, Jack Ryan Tatroe; brother, David; numerous other family and a host of loving friends. Memorial service will be held February 6, 2018 at 1:30 pm in the Parlor of Second Baptist Church in Kingwood. In lieu of usual remembrances, please honor Walker by making donations to the Alzheimer's Association or Living Water International at https://water.cc. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the staff of Autumn Grove Cottage in Atascocita for providing wonderful and compassionate care.
