Jerry Lee Lockett was born to James Douglas Lockett and Vivian Gardner Lockett in Kirsksville, MO on January 26, 1941. Jerry was the middle child. He is survived by his older brother, James Douglas Lockett, Jr. and his younger sister, Nan Elizabeth Marlin.
Jerry attended the University of Missouri as an undergraduate. He was a Phi Delta Theta. As an undergraduate he earned a degree in chemical engineering. He continued to graduate school where he earned his MBA. He played football and was on the 1960 Orange Bowl Team and 1961 Bluebonnet Bowl Team. He always wore black and gold with pride.
He went on to marry Sandra Kay Olson on June 8, 1963, whom he was married to for 52 amazing years. Together they had five children: Son, Mark Anthony Lockett married to Amye Lockett, son, James Douglas Lockett married to Susana Lockett, daughter, Kimberly Ann Morrow married to JJ Morrow, son, Kevin Christopher Lockett, and daughter, Shari Lockett Hamilton married to Mike Hamilton. Throughout his life he loved nothing more than being with his 10 beautiful grandchildren even allowing the granddaughters to paint his toenails in wacky colors. His grandchildren are Katelyn Lockett (27), Samuel Lockett (25), Jack Lockett (21), Sarah Lockett (20), Mati Morrow (15), Tobi Morrow (11), Camilla Lockett (9), Kendall Lockett (8), Marco Lockett (7), Kate Lockett (2).
He worked for Union Carbide for 33 years and retired as the Director of Pipelines. He went on to work as a consultant for Penn Octane Corp for another 5 years.
Having being raised in the Midwest he often said he didn't think he would ever even see the ocean. He accomplished that dream by living part time in San Pancho, Mexico on the beach. He also spent time traveling the world with the love of his life, Sandy, and their two best friends Mike and Linda Neenan.
Jerry had a larger than life personality. Every single person who met him would be greeted with smile, a hearty handshake, and a feeling of importance. If you were fortunate enough to meet him, you were truly blessed. He will be greatly missed by family and friends, but his legacy will live on through them.
Church service will be held at Strawbridge United Methodist Church, 5629 Kingwood Drive, Kingwood, Texas on September 8 at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that friends and family make donations to Stop Hunger Now (stophungernow.org). Checks can be made out to Strawbridge UMC, for the Stop Hunger Now Organization in honor of Jerry Lockett.

Dear Kevin and Shari,
I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I never met him but you and your Mom are in my thoughts and prayers at this time. I emailed the Kingwood Observer article to Tiffany. She lives in Chicago now. I loved the photo gallery. The baby pics of you two are precious!

Jerry was a classmate of mine at KHS in Keokuk and a great guy, all around, excelling in many things. He'll be missed -- always cheerful and friendy -- and my sympathy goes out to his wife, Sandra and all other members of his family.

I was a class mate with Jerry in High School. Just like high School he was always upbeat and a great person. Always willing to help any one in need. I know he will be missed by all the family, but I know he has left behind many fond memories that you can share in the years ahead. John Hagmeier, Class of 59

Jerry has been a friend of my parents since before I was born! He and my father were best friends in high school and played basketball for several years. I was saddened to hear of his illness and subsequent passing on. He will forever be one of fondest memories. He was always a jokester and loved to spend time teasing us when he would be at our house in Keokuk, Iowa. Rest in peace, Jerry! You're one of the best!
Sincerely,

To Sandy and the entire Lockett family. I was stunned and saddened to learn of your loss of Jerry. You are all in Amy's and my prayers. I will always treasure my friendship with Jerry. He was always up, had a great personality and was a great storyteller when sharing his experiences. Will never forget his account of the circumstances surrounding the events when he explained to a robber how he got his Blue Bonnet watch. Rest in peace good buddy.

Mrs. Lockett & Family,
We send our love, prayers and strength to you and your heavy hearts at this very sad time. Mr. Lockett is one of those generous, full-of-life people and for anyone who ever had the pleasure of being around him, couldn't help but be affected by his larger-than-life spirit. His thoughtful nature, his complete adoration for his family and his infectious spirit will continue to live in everyone who knows him.
He will continue to be with you and his spirit will continue to guide you in new and different ways. He will stay with you in spirit to watch his grandchildren grow, to witness life's milestones and as you all eventually find a bit more peace. He'll be with you in different ways such as a rainbow that shows itself just at the right time, a guiding phrase you hear just at the right time, every time you hear the clinging of scotch glasses or that feeling of someone watching over your shoulder in the car. Your hearts won't let you forget.
Our hearts, prayers, and thoughts are with all of you. May you find some peace in knowing the gift that he gave to so many, how proud he was of all of you, and the fullness of the life he lived.
Our deepest condolences and loving strength to you as you grieve.

Sandy and Lockett Family,
Our hearts and prayers are with you. We are so saddened by your loss. What an incredible person, husband and father. Jerry has always been larger than life - as loud as a bellowing grizzly bear and as gentle as a cub. His big, beaming smile could warm up any group, and Jerry definitely fit in with any group he was around. No one is a better conversationalist, and I'm convinced that Jerry would have been equally comfortable chatting with the Pope as with a two-year-old grand baby. He always asked about how you were doing in a way that you knew he really wanted to hear the answer. Well, Jerry, the truth is that all of us and the world are at a loss without you. But we know that you are with God and probably talking His ears off. Bless you, Sandy, for sharing him with us.
Love, Jim (BITB) & Patty Aylward

To Sandy and the entire Lockett family, we are very, very saddened by your loss. Jerry's smile and laughter will be very much missed by so many people. Jerry and I were close friends through Jr. And Sr. HighSchool, and we played basketball and football together at K.H.S. I am so glad I got to visit with him at our last K.H.S. 55th Class Reunion. We went our separate ways, but I will always cherish the fun and great times we shared. Susan and I will keep you all, and Jerry, in our thoughts and prayers. Pease and God Bless.

To Nan, Jimmy and Jerry's entire family, please accept my deepest condolences.
Jerry was a member of the KHS class of '59. I remember him as a "Super" guy in every respect, personality, academics and last but certainly not least, athletics. I was an under classmate to Jerry but he never failed to greet me with a sincere and friendly smile.
To all his family and friends I wish countless cherished memories of Jerry to replace the sorrow you now feel.
