Kathleen Radney Obituary

Kathleen June Radney, age 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, March 7, 2021. June was born on June 25, 1928, in Port Burwell, Ontario, Canada, to Bill and Alice Frishette. She graduated from Arthur Voaden Secondary School in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, where she was active in theater. After graduating, she worked at Imperial Bank of Canada and followed her passion performing in many plays in local theaters in the St. Thomas area. In 1952, June met William Marvin Radney, the love of her life, in Buffalo, New York, and they were married on October 31, 1953. They spent many memorable anniversaries together handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. Together, they had two sons. Marvin and June were active in the Galveston Bay Power Squadron and enjoyed traveling together as well as spending time with family and friends. As a lifelong Presbyterian, June's love for the Lord and her infectious laugh brought joy to everyone around her. She was devoted to her family and supported her husband and boys in all of their educational and professional endeavors. June was an avid gardener and enjoyed caring for God's creation through planting flowers and tending to her vegetable garden. She was also an excellent seamstress and needle pointer. Her talents in the kitchen were unsurpassed as she created wonderful meals and tasty baked goods for family and friends. June always made holiday gatherings very special with her gracious hospitality and the sumptuous meals that she prepared. Some of her favorite times were traveling the world with Marvin and their annual trip each fall to Canada to visit family and friends. She also enjoyed being involved in her grandchildren's lives, from hosting them at "Camp Seabrook," to cheering them on in all of their athletic events and finally watching each of them graduate from Texas A&M University. June is survived by her loving husband Marvin of 67 years, their oldest son, Mark, his wife, Cheryl, and their sons, David and Matthew; and their youngest son, Terry, his wife, Ann, and their children, Will and Katherine. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mitzi, Brigitte, Baylie, Stephanie, Cynthia, Lauren, Georgeana and the other wonderful caregivers who provided tender, loving care to June during the last several years as she battled Alzheimer's. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Waller Thornton Funeral Home, 672 FM 980, Huntsville, Texas 77320. Burial will follow at Brooke Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Following the service, lunch will be served. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.

Didn't know Kathleen June Radney. But, from knowing Mark, she did good. And reading the obituary, she was an amazing woman. Mark -- may you and your family be comforted with an over-abundance and the warmest of memories. As new days come, may new memories continue to bless and fill you, and bring smiles at the strangest of times. May the tears be happy ones. And the "Remember when..."s continue to bring back special times. Hugs-n-prayers.

I met June several times over the years and especially remember Rural Shade reunions and Clyde and Bertie’s 70th anniversary celebration. She was always very kind and gracious and a perfect host. After reading her obituary, I was struck with what a wonderful and blessed life she led. She and Marvin traveled the world, raised 2 fine sons, and had the adoration of all the other family members. I can only imagine the sorrow felt by the family now. May they take solace remembering her and a life well led.
