Marlene E. Johnston, 78, of Granbury, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018. Marlene was born on June 7, 1939 in Spencer, Iowa to Lyle and Evelyn Smith. She moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she worked for a television station for 10 years. She lived in Los Alamitos, California, where she met and married Jim Johnston. They lived in Atascocita, Texas and Granbury, Texas. She worked for several car rental companies and for a local car dealership in Granbury for several years. Marlene was an avid golfer and she loved to play cards with her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and husband: Jim Johnston. Marlene is survived by numerous nieces, cousins, and many cherished friends. No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Granbury Friends for Animals.
