Philip Bozzo Obituary

Beloved Brother, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and friend to so, so many, Phil was born in New York, New York to Vincent and Lena Bozzo. Phil lived life to the fullest. He attended Park College in Kansas City, MO., Tulane University in New Orleans, LA., Community College in New York, and Alvin Junior College in Alvin, TX. He received his B.S. at the University of Houston for Psychology & Secondary Education and attended 2 years at South Texas School of Law. During his studies, he developed a passion for photography which landed him jobs photographing such events as the Houston Rodeo and taking photos and video of MacArthur's trip to Houston. He worked for Foley's in Houston as a buyer in the camera department which eventually led to him being promoted to the position of Assistant to the Vice President. He also worked for Fox Photo in San Antonio as the Merchandise Manager for their Retail and Wholesale Divisions and later became their Vice President of Retail & Marketing. This love and passion for photography led him on many adventures, including a photo safari in Africa. Even when closer to home, he spent many hours at the Mercer Arboretum and Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge taking many photographs, finding beauty wherever he turned. He traveled all over the U.S. with his camera in tow, but especially loved to be in the mountains of Colorado. When Phil was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, not even that could slow him down. He quickly became one of the first members of Rock Steady Boxing in Kingwood, a program developed to assist patients dealing with the side effects of Parkinson's. He loved to don his bright red boxing gloves and give it all he had, earning the name "Iron Man" from his trainers and fellow boxers. Phil was a true ambassador for the Rock Steady program, always having a flyer and information to give anyone he might meet, simply because he so greatly desired others with Parkinson's to receive the same support he was so lucky to have found. A memorial honoring his life will be held on Saturday, September 2 at 11am at the Kingwood United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Building. All who knew him and loved him are invited. In lieu of flowers we are asking that donations be made to www.Rocksteadyboxinghouston.com Scroll down to the highlight titled "We love you Phil Bozzo" and make your donation there.
