Randy Bartlett Obituary

Randy was born in Columbus, Texas to parents Robert and Lois Bartlett on December 16, 1949. After graduating from Splendora High School, he went on to earn a degree in business administration from Sam Houston State University where he ran track, played football, was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and met the love of his life, Janet.

After meeting at Burger Chef in Conroe, Randy and Janet married on July 21, 1972, and together they had four children; Heather, Jennifer, Elizabeth and Cody. With the passing years he had the pleasure of seeing his treasured family grow to include eight grandchildren; London, Kinley, Holland & Merritt McWilliams, Roan & Fallon Kainer, Charlie & Collin Bartlett. His grandkids were the light of his life and he was so proud of each one.

Professionally, Randy was a Petroleum Landman for more than 40 years and was a past president of the North Houston Association of Professional Landmen.

Randy spent many years raising and showing Quarter Horses and found great success in the show ring. Additionally, Randy had a keen interest in firearms, guitars, model trains, and was a life long fan of Roy Rogers and The Beatles.

Outside of his family, his greatest passion was being outdoors, especially on a whitetail deer hunt or fly fishing. Randy was a lifelong outdoorsman and firearms enthusiast. Over the years he amassed quite the collection of trophies from all over North America and Africa. He was a master storyteller and loved to tell stories from the hunt. His contagious laugh could be heard from miles around and his smile brightened everyone's day.

Randy was preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer and parents Robert and Lois. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Janet and children Heather McWilliams and husband Matt, Elizabeth Kainer and husband Andrew, Cody Bartlett and wife Kelsey. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, his brother, Glenn Bartlett and wife Gigi, and many special family members.

Services for Randy will be held Friday December 18, 2020, at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church Conroe, with Dr. Jeff Berger and Dr. Charles Walton officiating. The service will also be streamed online at fbcconroe.org/livestream for those unable to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Boot Campaign or the charity of your choice.

I use to work with Randy Bartlett and I have known him for about 35 years or more. He was a really good friend and I am really sorry to hear about his passing. We use to enjoy running marathons and in fact we both ran the New York Marathon together in 1983. He was a great family man and loved his family very much.

I meet Randy at Giesinger Elementary. He would come and help Janet and Liz in their rooms or just come to visit. I knew the love that you had for each other and the love of family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Your family is loved.

I'm also a 40 year landman. Ran into Randy many times over the years in various counties both in courthouses and afterward in watering holes. He was always cordial to me, smiling, and never got caught up in the cut throat nature of oil & gas leasing. He was a real professional and truly a nice guy. I was sorry to read of his passing on the AAPL website.

Randy Harold is one that will be missed by me and certainly a host of others as well. I have so very many great memories of our Colorado hunting trips and other escapades in which we co-participated. In a great way He was one of a kind. My sincere condolences extended to Janet and all of Randy's family.
