Robert Michael ("Mike") Kohler, 74, peacefully left this earth on Friday, December 9th, 2017, after a 3-1/2 year struggle with metastatic cancer. Mike was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, December 12, 1942. He is survived by his loving wife, Dee Chandler Kohler of Kingwood; brother-in-law Joe (Elaine) Chandler of Houston; beloved niece, Victoria Kidwiler, special nephews, Jonathan Baubie and Andrew Kidwiler; honored life-long friends: James Ashley, Rodney B. Huddleston, Craig Kirk, and members of the Thursday and Saturday breakfast clubs; predeceased by parents Louis B. ("Boudreaux") and Margaret ("Peg") Kohler, and brother David B. Kohler.
Mike attended Mount Carmel High School, University of Houston, Our Lady of the Lake University and Southwestern Paralegal Institute (CLA). Mike served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War (Cam Rahn Bay). He previously worked at the Walgreen Co. Distribution Center, owned his own freight forwarding business, legal assistant for Andrews & Kurth, Mayor Day Caldwell and Keeton, and was a member of the Harris County Appraisal Review Board.
A memorial service to remember and honor Mike will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Darst Funeral Home 796 Russell Palmer Rd., Kingwood, TX 77339, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. An inurnment will take place at a later date at the Veterans Houston National Cemetery: 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038
