Bessie Pomeroy Stack, the last surviving member of the original historical Pomeroy family, has graduated into the arms of our loving Lord. Bessie was born in Pasadena, Texas on September 20, 1920 into the family of John Edward and Gertrude Lucinda McMasters Pomeroy. The exact home of her birth is now the Historical Museum in Pasadena. She cherished her Pasadena roots and was proud of the heritage her family enjoyed. The family name has been preserved with the naming of McMasters, Williams, and Pomeroy schools in the Pasadena Independent School District. Bessie graduated from Pasadena High School in 1938 and then from Baylor University in 1942.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her Baylor sweetheart and loving husband of sixty years, Walter Eugene Stack, Sr., her son Walter Eugene Stack, Jr., her grandson, Matthew Wes Stack, and brothers, Edward and Clyde Pomeroy and sister, Marguerite Seip.
Bessie is survived by children; Robert and Pamela Stack, Sheryl and Nickey Munn, and Jan Tekell. Her legacy continues with sixteen grandchildren; Mindy Robertson, Michael Stack, Marcus Stack, Mitchell Stack, Molly Hoisager, Mercy Barton, Mary Stack, Marshall Stack, Erin Stack, Scott Stack, Christopher Munn, Corey Munn, Colby Munn, Courtney Tekell, Kristen Tekell and Jonathan Tekell. Bessie is also survived by nine great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and family, too many to name.
The family suggests alternate remembrances could be made to South Main Baptist Second Family Care Team and the church library in Bessie's name.
The family will welcome visitors on Friday Evening, January 13, 2012 from 5-8 at Rosewood Funeral Home 3939 Pasadena Blvd. in Pasadena, Texas. A Celebration of Bessie's Life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:30 am at South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena, the same church her family helped to build. Dr. Ron Lyles will officiate. Bessie will be laid to rest in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in a private ceremony.

Skipper, Jan, and Sheryl,
I was so sorry to read about the passing of your mother. She was always such a nice and gracious lady. We mainly saw her and your father at church. The times I got to be around both at the same time, your dad would make a colloquial statement with a little local slang associated and she would laugh, correct him and they leave the whole group laughing before it was over with. May God comfort you during this time and may your memories of your mother grow sweeter as time goes by.

Jan and Sheryl,
I am so sorry to read about your mother's passing. What a wonderful legacy of love, family, history and tradition she left for not only her family, but the city of Pasadena as well. May God comfort you in your time of sorrow until you meet her again in Heaven. Keeping you in my prayers.
