Mona Ellen Cooper - 59, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, born into this world on Monday, December 31, 1956, in Pasadena, Texas, to her loving parents Bill and Fannie Gregg went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 25, 2016, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
She grew up in Pasadena, Texas, and graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1975 where she was Vice-President of the VOE program. After graduation, she worked for General Electric Company as a Customer Service Representative in Houston, Texas, and for several other local industries. She especially enjoyed working in the Legal Department at Shell Oil in Deer Park, Texas.
Mona married Larry Cooper on January 20, 1979, at the First United Methodist Church of Pasadena, Texas, and in 1984, they celebrated the birth of their daughter, Kimberly Renee'. Years later, she returned to school at San Jacinto College, Pasadena, Texas, and graduated in 1998 with an A.A.S degree in Health Information Management, named 1998 Outstanding Health Information Management Student and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. After graduation, she worked for Mohammed Haq, MD, at his oncology practice in Pasadena and later in Clear Lake City, Texas.
In 2004, Mona was diagnosed with cancer but continued her career as she received treatment. With this personal experience, she was able to be sympathetic, helpful and caring to the many patients seen at Dr. Haq's practice. She relocated to Broken Arrow in 2006 when her husband was transferred to Tulsa.
Mona was a very active volunteer as a Girl Scout Leader, PTO Executive Board Member, Room Mom, helped with the Youth program at FUMC of Pasadena, and was an active band parent at Deer Park High School.
Mona is survived by her parents, Bill and Fannie Gregg of Pearland, TX, brother Steven Gregg of Friendswood, TX, daughter Kimberly and son-in-law Mark Johnson and granddaughter Emmalynn, sister-in-laws Jeanette Jonietz of San Antonio, TX and Michelle Smith and husband Bobby of Beaumont, TX, brother-in-laws Kevin Cooper and wife Cheryl of San Antonio, and Jeffrey Cooper and wife Kim, of Schertz, TX, numerous other relatives, and her loving husband Larry of 37 years.
She is preceded in death by her brother David and brother-in-law Donald Jonietz.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Susan G Komen (www.komen.org ) or the First United Methodist Church, Broken Arrow, Prayer Card Ministry (www.fumcba.org).
Visitation will be Thursday, June 30, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow.
The Funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Broken Arrow followed by an 11:30 a.m. burial at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of her Acts 29 Sunday School Class: Randy Adams, Greg Hutchinson, Steve Lewis, Jerry Metcalf, Jason Moore and Gary Thayer.

Fannie and Bill, I remember how beautiful Mona was and I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. I think of David quite often and the friendship we shared as children. I just learned of the death of Mona Gregg Cooper when my job son David informed me. The Gregg family were neighbor's of ours in Pasadena for many years and also fellow church members. Our condolences to all of the family. Robert and Betty Barr
