John was a big guy with a big heart, full of genial greetings every time we connected in person or by phone. When I was an uncertain 13-year-old and a new girl, he generously welcomed me into our class at Wyomissing High School. His presence was unique; it is impossible to imagine anyone like him. I extend condolences to Bev, his family members, and all his friends who, like me, will miss his generous spirit.

I will remember John fondly for his warmth, his good-naturedness, and his friendship over more than 60 years. He was a good soul. I will miss the energy he brought to all our get-togethers over the years.
