James Ropp Obituary
James Leslie "Jim" Ropp, 74, of Toledo passed away Monday, September 20, 2021. He was born June 28, 1947 in Toledo, Ohio to Walter Dale and Helen (Vinson) Ropp. Jim graduated from St. Michael Grade School and Macomber High School before completing his apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. A member of IBEW Local 8, he was employed as an electrician throughout his working career, retiring from Brint Electrical in 1995. He joined the Bay View Yacht Club in 1974 and served as Commodore in both 1986 and 1996. Jim enjoyed spending the winter months in Las Vegas, Nevada, and returned to Toledo each summer to live on his boat on his beloved Lake Erie. He was a former parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
Jim is survived by his sister, Christine (Steven) Mark; brother, Timothy (Brenda) Ropp; nephews, Timothy Ropp Jr. and Ryan Trease; and niece, Jessica Trease. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Friday, September 24 from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with a Bay View Yacht Club Past Commodores Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin Saturday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Siena Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be at a later date in Toledo Memorial Park.
