Raymond Beerman Obituary

BEERMAN Raymond O. Raymond O. Beerman, 73, of Marco Island, Florida, passed away on December 28, 2008. Born in Toledo, Ohio, son of Raymond and Grace Beerman, he graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1954 after leading the team as co-captain to an undefeated year in 1953. Ray went on to earn his B.S. in Business Administration from Ohio State University in 1958. At Ohio State, Ray was a halfback for the football team during his entire four years, and helped the team become National Champions at the Rose Bowl during the 1957-1958 season. A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Ray achieved the rank of Major when he retired after twenty years of service. He later obtained a master's degree in education from Pepperdine University in 1973, which provided him an opportunity to work for the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Florida. After working for the Medical Center for over twenty years, he retired as its chief information officer. Ray was a noted public speaker and a published author on the automation of hospital systems, a revolutionary idea for its time. As a result of all of his accomplishments, Ray was inducted into the DeVilbiss High School Hall of Fame in 1992. Ray will be remembered for his generous spirit and strength of character. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. Ray was a loyal supporter of charitable organizations, most of which addressed children's health issues. He leaves behind Nancy, his loving wife of 21 years; sons, Raymond (Lisa) Beerman of Georgia, Charles (Ellen) Beerman of Mississippi, David Beerman of Florida, and Gerald (Maria) DiPasquale of Florida; his grandchildren, Ava, Grace and Jack, and Luciana; and the children of his sister, Janet Sanner (who predeceased him), Sherila (Paul) Carr, Randy (Carole) Sanner and Robert (Vicki) Sanner. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, OH, where visitation will be held Monday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Raymond Beerman's name to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
