Aldrid Marius Christensen, aged 92, peacefully passed away on June 13, 2025, in his hometown of Tremonton, Utah. Born on August 5, 1932, he was the son of Aldrid Lewis Christensen and Gurdren Magdalene Jensen. Marius married Maja Johanne (Jensen) Christensen on March 21, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was deeply saddened by her passing on August 2, 2021.
Throughout his life, Marius resided in various locations, including Salt Lake City, Ogden, Provo, and Tremonton in Utah, as well as Colorado, New York, San Francisco, and Germany. He pursued his education at Bear River High School, BYU, Long Island University, and the University of Utah.
A dedicated individual, Marius served as a US Navy Corpsman during the Korean War. He became the first LDS Chaplain in the US Army, dedicating twenty years of service, including a tour in Vietnam. His military career saw him stationed in Korea and Japan, where he played a vital role in evacuating people from Vietnam. He attained the rank of Lt Colonel in the US Army.
Marius was proud of his upbringing; he earned recognition as one of the youngest Eagle Scouts in Utah and contributed to unveiling the "This is the Place" Monument. He nurtured his artistic talent by taking art lessons in Germany, becoming a skilled painter. He had a passion for genealogy and enjoyed gardening throughout his life.
Marius was an active member of the LDS community, serving as a Chaplain, Patriarch, and a counselor in the Bishopric at the care center.
He is survived by his daughters Lene Arias and Linda Hyde (John Roorda), son Dana Christensen (Erica Leavitt), brothers Alvin Christensen (Caroline) and David Christensen (Elaine), sisters Dalene E. Thornley and Gail John (Darwin), as well as many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marius is preceded in death by his parents, Aldrid and Gurdren Christensen, wife Maja Christensen and two grandsons Gordan Marius Park and Michael Alan Hyde.
Funeral services to honor Marius will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11 A.M., with a viewing from 8:30 to 10:30 A.M. All services will take place at the Tremonton 2nd & 5th Ward building located at 251 S Tremont St, Tremonton. Interment will follow at the Riverview Cemetery.
