Ed D. Darnell, age 82, of Greenville, husband of Mildred Langston Darnell, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025, at his home.

Ed was born May 30, 1943, in Greenville, SC, and was the son of the late Alex F. and Mamie Proctor Darnell. He retired from Northern Tool and Equipment after many years of dedicated service. Ed enjoyed being a member of the rock band “The Four Chances,” hunting, and fishing. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, Ed is survived by his sons, Jason P. Darnell (Ashley) of Taylors and Jeremy Darnell of Piedmont; his grandchildren, Avery Elliot, Austin Darnell, Ashleigh Siegel, and Jaxon Darnell; several great-grandchildren; and his sister, Jackie Chafin of Jacksonville, FL.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Smith; and his siblings, Cecil Sayers, Barbara Smith, and Sandra Weaver.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 18, 2025 at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Laurens, with Rev. Clyde Scott officiating. Burial will be private.

Memorials may be made in Ed’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
