Jeffrey Anson Gerrish, 81, passed away May 24, 2023 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, NH. He was born August 3, 1941 in
Providence, R.I., son of the late Kenneth F. Gerrish and Lucy (Arsenault) Gerrish.
Jeff grew up in North Kingstown, RI and was one of four children in his family. He graduated from North Kingstown High School, Class of 1959. Jeff earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics from the University of R.I. where he was elected to the Honor Society for his fine achievements in his work at the university. He later earned his Master's Degree in Engineering from Northeastern University. In 1961, he married the love of his life, Lois L. Caruso. They resided in
West Newbury, MA for close to 20 years to raise their two sons. Jeff was a longtime engineer at Bell Laboratories, which became Lucent Technologies and is currently Nokia. On August 22, 1995 he was awarded a patent for his engineering work with AT&T. Jeff and Lois also lived in Newburyport for nearly 20 years before moving to Greenland, NH where Lois currently resides.
Jeff and Lois travelled extensively around the United States visiting many large state parks as Jeff has always appreciated the outdoors and nature. They also vacationed in various countries in Europe including Italy.
His hobbies included bicycling as he was formerly a semi-professional bicycle racer Jeff loved hiking and felt quite accomplished to have completed all the 4,000 foot mountains in NH. He enjoyed swimming, music, reading, watching sci-fi and western movies, bird watching and simply enjoying all the beauty of the natural vegetation. Jeff also had a good eye at spotting fine art, which was always appreciated by Lois since she is a longtime artist.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lois Lana Gerrish, son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Kimberly Gerrish, son, Craig Gerrish, 4 grandchildren, Jamie Mooers, Aaron Gerrish, Abbigale Gerrish, Kate Gerrish, sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Paul Cayer, sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Russell Hornik, sister and brother-in-law, Sandra Gerrish Horton and Jay Jardine and numerous nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH.

Friends and family may visit with the family starting at 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
