Judith Anne Collins

Judith A. Collins, age 83, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday evening, February 2, 2025.
Born on July 31, 1941, in Indianapolis, Judy was the daughter of the late Albert L. Schoenherr and Helen E. (Kelley) Schoenherr. Judy was a proud graduate of Emmerich Manuel High School, Class of 1959. She was named Prom Queen and took part in various extracurricular activities and school clubs. Judy pursued her passion for beauty and was a talented hair stylist for more than 30 years, even owning and operating her own salon, The Hair Handlers. Judy was an adventurous soul with an infectious love for music and a natural gift for connecting with others. Her vibrant personality, coupled with her selflessness and deep care for those around her, left a lasting impact on everyone she met. In her spare time, she thoroughly enjoyed bowling, fishing, and playing golf, often accompanied by friends and family.
She will be dearly missed by her devoted husband of 37 years, Ted G. Collins, her daughters Jamie L. Rix, Traci Stewart, Staci Kimmell (Josh), and Rhonda Conner (Paul), all of Indianapolis, as well as her 11 grandchildren: Dylan Hatley, Shelby Bielawski, Christine Collins, Daniel Dorsey, Paige Story, Molly Conner, Tyler Hayes, Bethany Hayes, Allie Kimmell, Kate Kimmell, and Caroline Kimmell. Judy was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren: Landyn, Haven, Reign, Benji, Scarlett, Conner, Wesley, Brody, Emma, Matthew, and Maddie.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her son Tommy Berg, her brother Tom Schoenherr, and her sister Karen Marcrum.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Cremation – Greenwood Chapel. Family and friends are invited to gather from 1:00 PM until the service begins.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Judy's memory to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
