Michael Keene Obituary

Michael was a United States Army Veteran, of the Christian faith and a member of the New Hope Christian Church in Grundy, VA. He loved taking metal and creating beautiful pieces of art and furniture, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and was an avid gardener. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher Keene and one sister, Robin Comfort.
Those left to cherish his memories in addition to his mother, Billie Jean Keen of Claypool Hill, VA include his loving wife of 49 years and 9 months, Sally Horn Keene of Grundy, VA; one daughter, Amber (Shaun) Bucklen of Keen Mountain, VA; one son, Brian Keene of Grundy, VA; and two sisters, Karen (Sammie) Ratliff of Wardell, VA and Gail (Tim) Herring of Grundy, VA.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cameron Keene, Kylie Keene, Ava Bucklen, Carma Keene and Kane Bucklen; step-grandson Ashton Bucklen; special friends, Kenny Stacy and Doug Hagerman; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Michael D. Keene will be conducted Sunday, June 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel at Keen Mountain, VA with Pastor Bill Neeley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA.
Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the VFW Post #7360 and American Legion, John Ratliff Post #164.
Active pallbearers will be Donnie Johnson, Keevin Hurley, Ryan Keene, Jamie Slone, Kenny Stacy, Josh Justice, and Donny Dye.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Horn, Sammie Ratliff, Tim Herring, Danny Comfort, and Doug Hagerman.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 18th, 2022 at the funeral home beginning at 6:00 pm with an evening service to be conducted at 7:00 p.m.
