Monte Higley Obituary
He attended Hooper Elementary School and Weber High School. As well as living in Hooper.
Monte was a talented welder whose craft was his pride and joy. He worked at several prestigious places during his career, including Williamson's Truck MFG, Hill Airforce Base, Willy's Hot Oil Service, and the Weber School District.
Beyond his professional life, Monte was an outdoorsman with a deep love for horseback riding, camping, fishing, and hunting. His favorite horses, Peaches, and Toots were his partners. He also liked to restore horse-drawn buggies, go motorcycle and ATV riding in the Uintah's, work with his tractor, and indulge in leatherworking.
Monte married Geraldine "Jerie" Wright on June 12, 1953, together they had five children, and they shared a marriage of 25 years, they later divorced. He married Janna Perkins, on December 7, 1994, and they spent 30 wonderful years together.
Monte is survived by his wife, Janna; his children, Doug Higley (JoAnne), Valerie Staley (Alan), Vickie Gallegos, Dan Higley (Maryann), his stepchildren; Jeff Perkins, Stacy Storrer; his daughter-in-law; Alice, his sister, Betty Jean Jackson; and his brother, Gary Higley; his 23 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dee Higley (Alice); his parents, Leland Higley and Ruth Smith; and his siblings, Elaine Fowers, and Don Higley.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hooper City Cemetery, 5301 South 6300 West, Hooper, Utah. The family will hold a private family gathering from 12:00 p.m to 1:00 p.m at Myers Mortuary, 5865 S 1900 W, Roy, UT.
