Norman Daniels Weber, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Lincroft on May 26th, 2023, he was 93 years old. He lived a long, fulfilling life, leaving behind many cherished memories and a legacy of love and service.
Norman was born on July 8th, 1929 in Jamaica,
Queens, NY where he grew up with his sister Virginia "Ginny". His mother Eva (nee Daniels) was a real estate broker and a teacher and his father, Jacob, was a social worker. As a youngster, Norman attended the Hollis Ave Congregational Church, where he met the love of his life, Carol. After graduating from high school, Norman pursued a career in engineering, eventually graduating from Brooklyn Polytechnic before landing a job at Bell Labs and eventually at AT&T and Bellcore, where he would work in engineering and marketing for over 45 years. He also later received his Masters of Engineering from NYU and got his Professional Engineering license. Norm and Carol eventually settled in
Lincroft, NJ where they raised their family together and were happily married for nearly 50 years before she passed away in 2000.
In addition to his work and home life, Norman was deeply committed to his community and dedicated himself to serving others. He was a devoted member of the Lincroft Presbyterian Church for many years, where he established a memorial scholarship in his wife's name. He really loved his church community and formed many deep friendships with his fellow congregants. His philanthropic spirit was also exemplified by his deep involvement with Habitat for Humanity. After retiring from Bellcore, Norman dedicated countless hours to helping build affordable houses for families throughout Monmouth County.
Norman enjoyed an active lifestyle and found joy in many activities. In particular, he loved getting up early to swim at the Red Bank YMCA and taking regular afternoon walks at Thompson Park. He was swimming everyday and walking most days up until just a few months before he passed and swore that it was what kept him going. As a skilled handyman, he also took great pleasure in building and fixing things for his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories through his craftsmanship. His mind was always curious about the world around him and he really enjoyed solving problems.
Norman was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol, his sister, Virginia Marr and his parents Eva and Jacob, whose memories he carried in his heart. Norman is survived by his loving children, sons, David and Peter, and daughter, Kathy O'Donnell, as well as his son-in-law, Eamonn O'Donnell and his daughter-in-law, Mary. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren Jenna, Maureen, Shauna and Christie, as well as son-in-law Oliver Vignola and Frank Stagnaro who he was so proud of and 3 great-grandchildren Rosalie, Harry and Maeve, who brought him immense joy.
Norman Daniels Weber will be remembered as a loving family man, a dedicated engineer, a devout member of his church community, and a compassionate humanitarian. A wonderful grandpa and great-grandpa. His generosity, wisdom, and kind-hearted nature touched the lives of all who knew him and he will be deeply missed.
