Quentin Edison Denton, affectionately known as "Q" to his friends and family, passed away on June 10, 2024, at the age of 50. Born on February 20, 1974, in
Peoria, Illinois, he was the cherished son of George and Linda Denton. Quentin's life was marked by his passionate spirit, his generous and humorous nature, with the ability to fix and create with his hands.
Q was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Laura Lee (Johnson) Denton, whom he married on February 1, 2003. He was a proud father to Kalab Silva, Samantha (Christopher) Sims, Meagan Johnson, Jacob Quigley, and Micah Denton. His role as a grandfather to Brent, Lillian, Michael, Conner, Harmony, Sophia, Amara, and Christopher Jr. brought him immeasurable joy. Quentin's love for his family was the cornerstone of his life, and his legacy will continue to flourish through them.
He is also survived by his mother, Linda Denton; siblings, Djuana Denton, NaWatch King-Irwin, Cassie King, and Charlie Kings; and his father-in-law, Lawrence Johnson; who will remember him for his unwavering support and infectious laughter. Quentin's sisters-in-law, Tammy McKague and Sherry McKenzie, along with many nieces and nephews, will miss his presence at family gatherings where he was often the life of the party. His special friends, Ed Erard, James True, Adam Hendrick, Carl Waltenburg, Panhead Terry, and Erin Woodard, will cherish the memories of their adventures and the bond they shared.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Michael Denton.
Quentin's interests were as diverse as his skills. He had a passion for motorcycles, an enthusiasm that was more than a hobby-it was a way of life. His friends knew they could always count on him for a ride, a laugh, or a helping hand. Q also found solace in the simple pleasures of life, such as spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored more than anything. He was a talented sign builder, a skill that allowed him and his brother, Ed to combine their creativity in woodworking to build signs together.
Quentin could often be found with a cue or axe in his hand, ready for a friendly game of pool or axe throwing. His love for the History Channel was well-known, as he could spend hours engrossed in learning about the past.
Those who knew Quentin will remember him as a man who lived life to the fullest. His passion was infectious, his humor could light up a room, and his handy skills could solve almost any problem. Quentin's presence was a gift to all who knew him, and his absence will be deeply felt.
As we say goodbye to Quentin Edison Denton, we celebrate a life lived with fervor and a heart that was always open. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who loved him, and his spirit will continue to inspire us. Q's journey through life was one of joy, laughter, and love-a journey that will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center.
