Troy James Jacobs, Jr., 77, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024. He was a native of Jacksonville and son of the late Troy James Jacobs, Sr. and Hazel Strickland Roberson Jacobs. He was a 1966 graduate of Ribault High School and joined the U.S. Navy on November 28, 1966. Troy served 3 years, 9 months and 3 days and attained the rank of ADJ3 (E-4). Received the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star. While on leave in 1969, he married the love of his life Willie Deen Jacobs, known as "Tiny" and they were married 44 years. He began his career with Southern Bell as a Mechanic, later Bellsouth and retired from A T & T. Troy loved to spend time with his family and he enjoyed deer hunting and working on their race truck. They all had the love of racing and spent a lot of time working on race trucks and going to races.
Preceded in death by his wife, Tiny Jacobs on May 14, 2014 and his brother, Allen Jacobs.
Surviving family include his son and daughter-in-law, Troy J. Jacobs, III and Sylvia; 4 grandchildren: Rebecca "Becky" Newman (Joey), Troy J. Jacobs, IV (Kaylee Canady), Amanda Adams & Heather Spires; great grandsons: Conner and Colt; great granddaughters Tiffani, Bridget, and Taylor. 3 sisters: Patricia Tschappat, Belinda Rippie, Darla Davis; 2 brothers: Keith Jacobs and Stanley Jacobs (Kay); like a son, Steve & Christy Davis and their family; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
His family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, October 21, 2024 at Peeples Funeral Home.
Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Peeples Funeral Home, 14165 N. Main Street with Pastor Jerry Jesonek, officiating.
Burial will follow at 12:30 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, with U.S. Navy Military Honors.
