Edith Huffman Obituary

Edith Lucille Huffman

HEBRON — Edith Lucille Huffman, 95, of Salisbury peacefully passed away, Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at her daughter's home in Hebron, with family by her side. She was born Oct. 4, 1917, in Elmore, W.Va. to the late George and Nora Ormandy. She graduated from Herndon High School, in Herndon, W,Va., in 1935. She married her high school sweetheart, Buster Alton Huffman, in 1936. They started their family in Oak Hill W.Va., before moving to Salisbury in 1963.

Edith was a devoted wife and loving mother of eight children. Aside from her love of raising her family at home, she enjoyed fishing, camping, and especially flower gardening. Her love for the outdoors also included feeding and watching visiting birds and squirrels. She and Buster enjoyed serving as Den Mother and Cub Master for over 15 years with their six boys. She and her husband also operated Star Oil Co. which they founded in 1974.

She is survived by her seven children, Benny Huffman and his wife, Sandra, of Charleston, W.Va., William Huffman and his wife, Deann, of Peterstown, W.Va., Eric Huffman and his wife, JoAnn, of Salisbury, Larry Huffman and his wife, Debbie, of Elizabeth City, N.C., Mason Huffman and his companion, Nancy, of Parsonsburg, Thomas Huffman and his wife, Rebecca, of Darlington, S.C., Tena Church and her husband, Gwyne, of Hebron; eight grandchildren, Renee Huffman, Lee Huffman, Ross Huffman, Paul Huffman, Suzanne Hudson, Nicky Huffman, Pam Huffman and Michael Church. Edith was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Tasha, Christopher, Brandon and Eddie; and five great-great-grandchildren, Jaden, Harley, Paul, Taylor and Justin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Huffman; a daughter, Judy Huffman; and three sisters, Minnie Hyder, Isabelle Cook and Mary Brooks.

The family would like to extend a special love and gratitude to Robin Citroni, Debbie Huffman, Nancy Littleton and Coastal Hospice for the dedicated and loving care they provided in assisting with Edith's care, as well as family support and comfort.

"Though she shared 95 wonderful years with us, we were all blessed with her love and memories that will last forever, as will our love and remembrance of her."

A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. A close family friend, David Webster, will officiate. Interment will follow in Wicomico Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21802.
