Mary Cole Obituary

Cole Mary Adale Cole, age 93, of Upper Arlington, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2014. She was born to the late Ernest and Beatrice Piper in Vinton, Ohio on September 28, 1920. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a humble woman of quiet strength with a gentle soul. Her family all adored her, including her three great-granddaughters; one of whom she met the week before she died. Mary graduated as a Registered Nurse, from nursing school at White Cross Hospital in Columbus. She was united in marriage on March 18, 1945 to Clarence Russell Cole, who survives. They have been a devoted couple for 69 years. Clarence and Mary have been residing at First Community Village. Clarence is profoundly grateful for the rehabilitation Mary received at the Health Care Center there. Our family gives a special thanks to Karen and Jackie in the physical therapy program. Mary's legacy lives on with her family; her loving children, Carole Fallang, Larry Cole and Pamela (Stephen) Vivian; grandchildren, Eric (Yoshiko) Vivian, Bruce (Helen) Vivian, Kirstin Fallang, Ragan (Christy) Fallang, Ethan (Elizabeth) Fallang and Carsen Fallang; great-granddaughters, Emma, Madeline and Miyako; sister, Freda Hill; brother, Jerry (Susie) Piper; brother in law, Argil Toalston, Marlin Cole and Howard Cole (Phyllis); sister in law, Agnes (Bill) Cole McNeely and Jeannie Cole, who is the wife of deceased brother in law Forest Cole; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother James (Judy) Piper, sisters Ruth Louise Toalston and Marjorie (Norman) Simon, and brother-in-law Robert Hill. Private arrangements have been entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL. Please visit www.schoedinger.com to send messages of support to Mary's family.

I AM SORRY FOR HER LOST
PATRICK MCNEELY

Mary and her beautiful family

June 22, 2014

Dearest Pammy, Coley, Larry & Carole: I'm so sorry. Right now you must feel like there's a knife in the heart. My own heart aches for you. I wish I could fix it. Grief can't be fixed. It permanently changes people. Your mom's legacy is broad and rich. And everlasting. You can see her in the eyes of her beautiful great-granddaughters. Let we who love you walk beside you as you grieve. Withdrawal from the world is part of it. But grieving in isolation can be unsafe. I pray grief will bring you a broadened mind, a softened spirit, and deeper love. Deep understanding and compassion. You don't think so now, but you will be okay. I believe your mom is healthy, flourishing and joyful beyond imagining. Waiting for you to join her in God's time. She is with you and will never leave you. I love you so much.
