EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of John R. Vidrine on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the Ellington of Rayne surrounded by his loving family at the age of 79. A Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with his son, Chaplain Kirby Vidrine III officiating.

Born on December 16, 1944, John was welcomed into the world by his parents, Kirby and Isola Landreneau Vidrine, Jr., who preceded him in death. John, known as Randy to all who knew and loved him, grew up in Arizona before moving to Louisiana, where he graduated from Eunice High School and earned his bachelor's degree in business from the University of Louisiana. Randy was also a retired United States Army Reserve veteran and was a chapter chairman of the Acadiana 82nd Airborne Division Association. He was also a retired safety manager in the Petroleum field and was very active in his Baptist church. Randy also had a love for old, classic cars and was a member of the Antique Car Club of Acadiana. If there’s one thing that can be said about Randy, it’s that he never met a stranger. Even though he had many friends and touched the lives of countless people, nothing was more important to him than his legacy of love for his family. His memory will be cherished dearly by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him—especially by his devoted wife of fifty-eight years, Delores Howell Vidrine of Branch; his four sons, John R. Vidrine, Jr. and wife, Cathy of Leoma, TN, Kirby Lee Vidrine III and wife, Wendy of Huntsville, AL, Jason Edward Vidrine and wife, Xochilt of Alice, TX, and Conrad Dwight Vidrine and wife, Paulina of Fort Johnson; his daughter, Gloria Nicole Vidrine of Branch; eighteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Conrad Vidrine; and grandsons, Kirby Lee Vidrine IV, John Wesley Vidrine, and Steven Millen.

To honor John’s memory, visitation will take place on Friday, January 5, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with a continuation on Saturday, January 6, 2023, starting at 8:00 am until the start of the funeral service.
