Albert "Al" Weigman, 96, Fremont, is on his way home to God. He died on September 24, 2023, while residing at The Gardens of St. Francis in Oregon, OH. He was born in Gibsonburg on February 23, 1927 to Elethia (Cunningham) and Albert Weigman, and was a 1945 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. His parents, five sisters and their husbands, two brothers and a sister-in-law, preceded him in death. One brother, Ned (Fran) and two sisters-in-law, Juanita Weigman and Norita Weigman, all of Gibsonburg, survive.
A devoted husband and father, Al married Susanne "Susie" Haubert on August 4, 1951. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2017. They had five children: Anne (Gregory) Cassidy of Fostoria, Martha (Michael) Horn of Fremont, Laura (William) Sutter of Huron, Revered Joseph of Perrysburg, and Thomas (Nan) of Sandusky. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Three grandchildren, Erich Strasbaugh, Sara Horn, and Amber Poulson, preceded him in death.
Al was an active member of St. Ann Church until his move to Oregon in 2014. He remained faithful to his family and to his parish throughout his life. He was also a 36-year employee at Whirlpool Corporation in Clyde, holding several different positions throughout his tenure. He was a Materials Coordinator when he retired in 1989. He will be lovingly remembered for his competitive spirit and his tender-heartedness, especially toward his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private family service with interment in the St. Ann Cemetery, Fremont, Ohio, has taken place. The Walker Funeral Home – Oregon Chapel, 3500 Navarre Ave., Oregon, Ohio is assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann Church, 1011 W. State Street, Fremont, OH 43420; or to The Gardens of St. Francis, 930 S. Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio 43616. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
