Alfred R. Huff, of Brunswick, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 9th, 2025 at the age of 98. Born in West Lafayette, Ohio, on December 11, 1926, he was the son of Ernest and Fern Huff (Thompson).
A proud but quiet veteran, Alfred graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1944 and soon after enlisted in the United States Navy. He served honorably during World War II, stationed in Guam and the Philippines. Though he rarely spoke of his time in the service, his dedication and patriotism were evident in the way he lived his life-with humility, strength, and quiet pride.
After the war, Alfred built a life rooted in hard work and family. He retired from Mapleside Farms, where he was known for his reliability and gentle spirit. On November 24, 1948, he married the love of his life, Mary Dering, with whom he shared many cherished years until her passing.
Alfred is survived by his children: Gloria Sensel of Brook Park, Chris (James) Bolton of Russellville, Alabama, Frank (Regina) Huff of Strongsville, and Tom (Cindy) Huff of Brunswick. He was a beloved grandfather to Thomas, Nathan, Amanda, Adam, Lee, Jonathan, and Joshua; great-grandfather to Steven, Tommy, Hannah, Matthew, Desi, Jeremy, Nick, Anthony, Adeline, and Nathalie; and great-great-grandfather to Makenna.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his brother Charles, sister Sara, son-in-law Tom Sensel, and his parents.
Calling hours will be held at Carlson Funeral Home in Brunswick on Tuesday, September 16, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September 17, at 10:00 AM, followed by burial with military honors at Eastlawn Memory Garden in Brunswick. ALFRED Alfred will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to family, and his honorable service to his country. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
