Allen Wayne Asche "Al", 56, of Pecatonica, IL passed away January 16, 2025 at home unexpectedly. Allen was born April 17, 1968 in Rockford, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne and Joan (Smith) Asche. He graduated from Winnebago High School in 1986 and graduated from Rock Valley College with an Associate's Degree in Police Science. Allen married Mary Terrell at Jefferson Prairie Church in Poplar Grove on June 5, 1993.
Al fulfilled his goal of becoming a police officer and proudly served on the Rockford Police Department for 28 years, retiring in 2018 after being a detective for 12 years. He also loved farming and had a desire to own a farm and raise bison. Both of those were achieved and in 2002 the first bison stepped on the farm, along with other livestock over the years.
Al had many accomplishments, but his greatest was being a dad to his three children. His life centered around his family. He coached all three children in his favorite sport, basketball, from Bitty Ball all the way up through High School at Durand. He loved watching his children grow up and see all of their achievements in sports and other activities they participated in. Having family by his side at planting and harvest time was also cherished as they grew older and became more involved.
Allen is lovingly survived by his wife, Mary; children, Colton Asche, Kaitlin (fiancé Brett Willing) Asche, and Alena Asche; siblings, Tara (Matt) Wells, and David (Jen) Asche; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Bradley Asche.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2025 in Seward Congregational Church, 3029 South Pecatonica Road, Seward, IL with Pastor Joel Hicke officiating. Burial will be in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home - Pecatonica Chapel, 203 West 5th Street, Pecatonica, IL from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 23.
