Alvin Robert Spitzley

Alvin Robert Spitzley, 83, of Mulliken, was called home on February 20, 2024. Alvin was known by his family and friends as Alvie. Alvin was born on March 21, 1940 in Ionia, MI to Leo and Theresa (Fox) Spitzley Sr.
Alvin was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother who took pride in providing for his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a passionate, lifelong farmer who was constantly on the go and kept himself busy with work of all kinds. Those who spent any time with Alvin knew that he was not afraid to share his mind and was full of quick–witted remarks that were always sure to get a laugh. As a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, he was a loyal follower of Christ. Alvin was also a former member of the National Guard.
Alvin is survived by Rosemary, his devoted wife of 63 years; his children Ron Spitzley, Lynda English, LuAnn (Rick) Kinsman, Andy (Larene) Spitzley; grandchildren Jeames (Amy) English, Lara (Dan) Katschor, Nic Spitzley, Cole Kinsman, Kyra Kinsman; great grandchildren Rosie and Maddy English and Ellie and Gracie Katschor; his brother Phillip and sister-in-law JoAnn Sptizley, and numerous nieces and nephews. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leo, Robert, Harold, David, Jerome, Roy and sisters Joan Schmitz, Wilma Schmitz, Alice Esch, and son-in-law Jim English.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm – 7pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel, 301 E. Jefferson St., Grand Ledge, MI 48837, and from 10 am – 11am on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 345 Edwards St, Grand Ledge followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.
A private interment will be at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Mulliken.
