Amelia Jewell Rebusmen of Coxsackie passed away on October 19, 2024, after a brief illness, she was 77 yrs old. Born August 3, 1947 to Robert B. Smith and Mary Ellen Van Vliet of Catskill, she was a 1965 graduate of Catskill High School before attending Mildred Elley Secretarial School in 1966.
She was employed by Red Star in Glenmont, where she met her future husband, Kenneth C. Rebusmen. They married in 1972, and celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2022. Together they raised their 4 children; Kenneth M. (Paula), Robert (Crystal), Carrie (David Taylor), and Christopher (Rachael). Jewell balanced her career at the NYS Division of Budget with her family until she retired in 2004.
In retirement Jewell was caregiver to her husband, but found great enjoyment spending time with her grandchildren, working her flower gardens, taking walks to watch the birds, and with her cats. In recent years she frequently attended Coxsackie- Athens sporting events cheering on her grandchildren, and visited with the parents in the stands. She extended her warmth far beyond her actual family, and was widely known as Neena to many of her grandchildren and their friends.
She is survived by her sister Mary Belle (John) Hazelton of Florida, nine Grandchildren, and 2 Great- Granddaughters, with a third expected in February, numerous other relatives and many close friends.
Calling hours will be Thursday, 10/24/2024, from 4 to 7pm at W.C. Brady's Funeral Home in Coxsackie, NY. Funeral service on Friday at 10, followed by interment at Catskill Cemetery East.

I fondly remember Jewell's bubbly personality and her energy. Our daughters played sports together at Coxsackie - Athens and Jewell was always involved and volunteered her services in all her kids' activities. I always enjoyed her company, her positivity and her contagious laugh. My condolences to Carrie, Ken, Robert and Christopher. Your Mom was wonderful.

It has taken me some time to get my thoughts in order concerning Jewell's passing. Jewell and I were proud graduates of Catskill High School, Class of 1965. We would share old memories and talk about our current lives when we would meet at reunions and other social events concerning our class. She was a wonderful person, always full of joy and good spirit. I will miss her, rest in peace, my friend. Nate Hamm
