It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Andrew "Drew" Dylan Wilkerson, age 28, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, who entered into rest on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Kelleytown Baptist Church in Hartsville. The service will be officiated by Pastor Dr. Mike Madaris and Eric Burnett and will include musical tributes from several of Drew's friends, celebrating his deep-seated passion for music. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends and family are invited to visit from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of his parents in Hartsville.
Born on April 9, 1997, in Florence, South Carolina, Drew was the beloved son of Lee and Gina Roscoe Wilkerson. He graduated from Cheraw High School in 2015 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology with a minor in Marketing from Winthrop University in 2020.
Drew embarked on his professional music career at the Ballantyne School of Music in 2019, where he thrived in an environment that mirrored his passion for all things musical. He devoted himself to playing, teaching, and learning from his students, embodying the joy that music brought into his life.
Raised in a musical family, Drew was greatly influenced and mentored by his mother, a fellow music teacher. His exceptional talent allowed him to master multiple instruments, including his primary instrument, the drums, as well as the guitar, keyboard, and banjo. Over the years, he guided hundreds of students on their musical journeys, shared his favorite bands with them, and recently mentored some of his students to become music instructors at Ballantyne School of Music. His commitment to his students was unwavering; he consistently attended their shows, cheering for them as their most enthusiastic supporter.
Drew's vibrant personality touched the lives of many. Initially appearing shy, he revealed a witty sense of humor and an inclination for practical jokes that endeared him to those around him. He had a remarkable ability to bring joy and smiles to any situation. In addition to his love for music, Drew enjoyed fishing, gardening, and was an accomplished cook renowned for his gourmet dishes, particularly his prized hot peppers. A devoted follower of Christ, Drew will be cherished as a loving son, brother, grandson, and friend, inspiring all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Drew was reunited in heaven with his paternal grandfather, Jerry Wilkerson.
He is survived by his parents, Lee and Gina Roscoe Wilkerson of Hartsville; a sister, Savannah Wilkerson of Myrtle Beach; maternal grandparents, Mickey and Barbara Roscoe of Cheraw; paternal grandmother, Patsy Griggs of Hartsville; aunts and uncles, Penny (Bill) Walton of Canton, GA, Joy (Scott) Graves of Myrtle Beach, and Brent (Karen) Wilkerson of Hartsville; as well as cousins Lauren Walton, Josh Walton, Bradley Wilkerson, Laney Barno, Miley Graves, and Kinley Graves. He also leaves behind his cherished students, close friends, and the extended family at Ballantyne School of Music.
In lieu of flowers, a music scholarship has been established in Drew’s honor, and contributions can be made at any Founders Federal Credit Union Branch.
