Andrew J. McElhinney

Andrew J. McElhinney, of Philadelphia, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. He was 50 years old. Drew, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on November 28, 1972 to the late James and Nora (née Naughton) McElhinney.
Drew grew up in Elkins Park, PA where he was an altar boy at St. James; he attended Bishop McDevitt High School, and later attended trade school, eventually acquiring the skills of a Master Electrician. Most recently enjoying his work as Maintenance Mechanic with Perry Videx, LLC in New Jersey. He was known far and wide to be able to fix anything and was happy to offer his help to others.
Drew enjoyed a wide variety of music and frequently went to concerts and festivals. He'd also sing when something sparked a song, and he played a mean hippy drum.
He was very generous, loving, and genuine.
He was a great storyteller and had a fun adventurous spirit. His great appreciation for nature brought him to the woods multiple times a week; he loved taking long walks in the woods with his daughter Joanah and her dog, Poppy. Drew also loved playing disc-golf at Sedgley Woods and had found community with lots of friendship there.
Above all, he loved his kids unconditionally. Drew's happy-go-lucky, fun-loving nature will be deeply and dearly missed by family and friends. He's still with us in spirit, he's now just one step beyond.
Drew is survived by his children: Amber L. Boss, Joanah F. McElhinney, Noah Dribin, his siblings: Cathie McElhinney McDugall (Dave), James E. McElhinney, Jr., Edward M. McElhinney (Amy), Anthony C. McElhinney (Patti), Sean T. McElhinney, his niece Shannon Stocklin Smart (Joe), his nephew Anthony McElhinney, Jr., and his aunt Sandy Navarro McElhinney. He is survived also by several cousins and extended family in the United States and Ireland.
Relatives and friends are invited to Drew's Life Celebration on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. followed by a time of sharing at 2:00 p.m. at the Craft-Givnish Life Celebration Home, 1801 Old York Rd. Abington, PA 1900. His service will be live streamed on the Craft-Givnish Life Celebration Home facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/CraftGivnish, starting at 2:00 p.m.
