Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother
Ann Carter passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, at the age of 90. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ann lived a life rooted in love, grace, and quiet strength.
Ann was a longtime resident of Mahopac, New York, where she and her beloved husband, Allan D. Carter, raised their five children. Married for 56 years until Allan's passing in 2008, the two shared a deep bond and created lasting memories traveling together with their family. In retirement, Ann embraced the warm sunshine of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and more recently moved to Wilton, Connecticut, to be near her loved ones.
She dedicated many years to being a stay-at-home mother before later working in retail, where she specialized in handbags for department stores. She had a natural elegance and eye for style, but her true joy was in nurturing those around her.
Ann is survived by her children: Patricia Cossentino and her husband Charlie, Allan Carter and his wife Marie, Tim Carter, Robert Carter, and Linda Gelchie and her husband Michael. She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, with a special tenderness for babies and young children.
Gentle, kind, and thoughtful, Ann had a quiet wisdom and an enduring appreciation for nature's beauty. She also had a deep love for animals-especially dogs-and cared for many cherished pets throughout her life, each one a beloved companion.
She will be remembered for the calm and loving presence she brought to every room, and for the deep care she held for both her family and the world around her.
A celebration of life will be held by the family on June 30, 2025, to honor Ann and the love she shared so freely.
