In High School she was active in basketball and softball, and also after graduating High School she played basketball for the PTA, and The Rehab Center, and softball for the YMCA. Wanette also enjoyed bowling and was on several bowling leagues and tournaments for many years. She had a great love for fishing, and passed this joy onto her son Matt, taking him as a young boy to fishing derbies.
Wanette was such a devoted and loving Mother. She was Homeroom Mother for Vicki and Matt thru the 6th grade, while holding down a full-time job, and was also Vicki's Brownie Troop Leader for one year. She attended field trips, made treats for the classroom, created homemade Halloween costumes, made each birthday very special by making custom cakes and thoughtful birthday gifts. Christmas was always her extra special holiday, and she took great pride in decorating her tree and displaying all of her nutcrackers. She made our holidays magical.
If you knew Wanette, you knew her other great love was going on Fire Detail for the US Forest Service!! She was absolutely enthralled by the excitement, and the challenges that were brought by these natural disasters. She was also involved in Hurricane and Tornado damaged areas working on FEMA detail. She made lifelong friends and relationships that lasted well after retirement. She was thrilled in seeing different parts of our country, and Wanette was a devoted and faithful Patriot and was very active in the political environment. She spoke her mind freely, to Congressman, Senators, and any willing and able body who would listen!!! She loved a good joke and enjoyed a good laugh. We will all miss her dearly. Godspeed to you Mother.
