Ann Wilson Hall, 81, of Springfield, passed away on April 11, 2022. She was born to Charles C. and Alice Wiley Wilson on September 17, 1940. As a life long Springfield resident, she attended Roundtree Elementary, Jarrett Jr. High, and Parkview High School. Ann was attending Jarrett during the infamous Cobra Scare. After graduating from Parkview, she attended Drury University where she was proud to be a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She graduated in June 1962.
On June 17, 1960, Ann married her "boy next door" Don Hall. Don and his family had moved in next door to Ann and her parents when she was 10 years old. Their life was forever changed when their daughter Lisa was born in September of 1962. In 1965, Ann replaced the hostess on "The College of Cooking" on KTTS TV, the local CBS station in Springfield at the time. She spent five days per week sharing items of general interest to women about food preparation, nutrition, and general homemaking information with viewers until 1971. Ann never tired of being recognized by strangers in Springfield for her time on "The College of Cooking." Her reason for leaving the show was a special one. Lisa was joined by a brother, Christopher, in November of 1971.
In 1978, Ann began a second career by becoming an employee of City Utilities for 23 years where she worked to educate customers about both energy and water efficiency. Ann coordinated CU's elementary energy education program and served as a consultant to the Keep Missourians Warm Governor's Committee as well at the Springfield Affordable Housing Action Board. Through her interest in gardening and water efficiency, Ann persuaded CU to fund a Xeriscape Garden, a demonstration garden for efficiency water use in landscaping.
Ann and Don loved to travel around the world. They visited 72 countries, including a visit to Springfield's sister city, Tlaquepaque, Mexico. As a life long learner, she had the opportunity to learn about viticulture and was involved in the planting and managing of a vineyard in Mt. Vernon, MO. Through the years, Ann had many gardens in her yards filled with both flowers and vegetables that provided many hours of relaxation. Many friends were the recipients of starts of her prolific plants.
Ann is preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband of 40 years, Don, son Christopher, and grandson, Andrew Pfitzinger. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Kurt Pfitzinger; grandson Kyle Pfitzinger along with his wife, Lacy, great granddaughter Kennedy, and soon to be great grandson Cole; and granddaughter Sarah Harper (Pfitzinger) and her husband AJ. She can also boast many other relatives and dear friends.
Ann was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and had been active for many years. A private graveside service will be held at later date. Donations may be made in Ann's memory to Ozark Food Harvest or another charity of your choice.
