Anthony "Tony” John Fay was born May 1, 1933, in the Bronx, New York. He was predeceased by his dear wife, Elizabeth “Betty” (O’Brien), of nearly 65 years, and his brothers Peter, James, and William. He is survived by his children John (Rose), Joseph (Gabrielle), Peter (Lisa), and Maureen Dana (Eric); and his grandchildren Samantha Marshall (Jack), Daniel Fay, Sean Fay, Ashley Dana, Brendan Dana, and Madeline Fay. After grade school, Tony earned a scholarship to Cathedral College Prep Seminary for four years. He then graduated from New Paltz State Teacher’s College and earned a master’s degree from Hofstra University. He also earned a scholarship to pursue a doctorate at Brooklyn College, but he was unable to attend.

Tony and Betty were married in 1960 at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre on Long Island. They lived in Levittown for 6 years before having their dream home built in Dix Hills, where they raised their family. After they retired, Tony and Betty moved to Cheshire, Connecticut, and finally to Ashlar Village in Wallingford, Connecticut. Tony and Betty loved raising their family. They also loved to entertain and hosted parties for Tony’s school’s faculty (he was an elementary school teacher and principal), and an annual St. Patrick’s Day party for family and friends, proudly serving only homemade food since Tony loved to cook.

Tony had many other interests including antiquing and finding bargains at garage sales, reading, traveling, attending concerts, playing cards and board games, art projects (painting, drawing, wood-working, and stained glass), running, swimming, body surfing, and maintaining his home and yard. Tony’s gardening skills were unmatched. He also loved Christmas – collecting memorabilia and decorating his home, especially his Christmas tree(s). Tony hopes to be remembered as a good neighbor, a kind man to all, and as a man who did his very best. But he will be remembered most as a loving husband, father, and granddad.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, CT. The family will greet friends again on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 9 a.m. until the funeral procession leaves for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish/St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire, CT.
