Ardell Pruitt Hemric was surrounded by her loving family when she left this earthly home for her heavenly home. Ardell was born on December 30, 1932, to Kelly and Martha Mitchell Pruitt in Wilkes County, North Carolina.
A devoted caregiver, Ardell worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 48 years in the Labor and Delivery Department, always serving others and lending a hand, even without being asked. She was a faithful member of State Road Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 40 years, where she served as a greeter and brought joy to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Sprinkle; her second husband, Frank Hemric; her daughter, Carol Vanhoy; her son, Benny Sprinkle; and her siblings, including one sister and six brothers.
Ardell is survived by her daughter, Pat Anderson and her husband, Roy, of Clingman; her sisters, Margaret Elledge of Boomer, and Mable Adams of North Wilkesboro; her cherished grandchildren, Tina Wagoner, Sheila O'Neal, Tommy Bullard, Billy Vanhoy, Jason Vanhoy, and Alyson Snow, and nine great grandchildren.
Ardell was a very kind person, loved to laugh and have a great time, and loved God with all her heart. She had an unwavering love for her family and enjoyed spending time with them any chance she had. She loved her church family as her own, and upon entering the front door, each person would be greeted with a smile and a hug as she passed out the Sunday bulletin. Ardell loved gardening, and some of her best memories included sitting on her patio under the shade trees and shucking corn with friends and family. She loved flowers of all kinds, but her favorite was pansies. She also enjoyed her social groups, including her swimming group classes and Wednesday night dinners sponsored by a local church. Over the years, Ardell had many hobbies. She was quite the bowler, enjoyed traveling and bus tours, and attended summer camps for the visually impaired. But her absolute favorite thing to do in the world was hold babies in her arms. She had the heart of a nurturer and was a blessing to all those that knew her.
A funeral service will be held Monday, April 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at State Road Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Reverend Gary Tatum and Reverend Kenny Gunn officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, P. O. Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017 or State Road Pentecostal Holiness Church, 4106 Pleasant Ridge Road, State Road, NC 28676 in Ardell's memory.
