Ardith Cecilia Shoffner

Ardith Cecilia Joyner Shoffner, 76, went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2025. Ardith was born in Wilson, NC on June 23, 1949 to Cecil Rhodes and Esther Wake Taylor Joyner. Ardith graduated from Southern Alamance High School in 1967. She continued her education at UNC-Greensboro to pursue her love of Music and then completed her education at Elon College with a degree in Social Work. She worked with the Alamance County Department of Social Services and retired from the State of North Carolina Child Protective Services. After her retirement, Ardith found pleasure working for the Mid State Equine Hospital.
A strong and resilient woman, she departed this life surrounded by loved ones and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, strength, and compassion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister in law, Doris Joyner.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband, Kenneth Shoffner; three brothers: Kelton, Gilbert and Marshall (Molly); her two sons: Robbie (Jill) Shoffner and Nolan (Kate) Shoffner; eight adored grandchildren; Parker, Mia (Josh), Lauryn, Evan, Brody, Colby, Camden and Kallan and her cherished Cat, Rosebud.
Ardith found joy in companionship in nature, especially in the presence of birds and horses. Whether it was the quiet flutter of feathers outside her window or the proud stance of a horse in the pasture, she felt at home among them. She also enjoyed watching her Grandchildren's variety of extracurricular events and was always their loudest supporter. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington, 306 Glenwood Avenue, Burlington, NC. A private graveside service, for family, will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was a dedicated member of the congregation. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The St. Paul's Lutheran Church Social Ministry or to The Burlington Animal Services.
