Arthur Colburn, fondly remembered as Art by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, in Mishawaka, Indiana, at the age of 64. Born on December 7, 1960, in South Bend, Indiana, Art was a man whose life was marked by devotion to his family, persistence in his work, and a spirited joy for the outdoors.
Art leaves behind his adoring wife, Donna (Hostetler) Colburn, whom he married on August 26, 1989, in a beautiful ceremony in Mishawaka that set the foundation for a loving partnership and close-knit family. Together, they raised a family that included their daughter Cassie (Scott) Gaglio, sons Eric (Jaime) Colburn and Justin Siders, as well as being a cherished brother to James Colburn, Christine (James) Wichlacz, and Marjorie (Joe) Lance. He was preceded in death by his father Harold Colburn Sr., his mother Geraldine (Brown) Colburn, and his brothers Harold "Bud" Colburn Jr. and Richard Colburn. Art is also survived by his brother in laws, John (Pam) Hostetler, and Steve (Noreen) Hostetler.
Art was a 1980 graduate of Penn High School, and his strong work ethic led him to a career that spanned more than 30 years with Steel Warehouse as a truck driver. He took great pride in his work and was a respected member of Teamsters Local Union No. 364, where he formed enduring friendships and was known for his reliability and good humor.
His passion for life shone through in his love of deer hunting, where he found solace and excitement in the stillness of the woods. Art's enthusiasm for adventure also found him riding his motorcycle, taking in the freedom of the open road, a pastime that brought him immense joy and peace.
Above all, Art was a family man. His grandchildren Macayla, Abigail, Bentley, Finley, Jaxson, Wyatt, Caden, Dixie, Easton, and Waylon brought a sparkling light to his eyes, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Art's legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to his family will continue to live on through the stories and memories he leaves behind.
A time to visit with the family will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 from 4-8 p.m at Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka, IN 46545. A memorial celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 1p-4p at Michiana Walleye Association, 13040 Day Rd., Mishawaka, IN 46545.
