Athenia Ghavamian Blomquist September 15, 1981 – June 16, 2025
Surrounded by love, Athenia Ghavamian Blomquist of Woodstock, GA, passed peacefully at home on June 16, 2025. Athenia was a beacon of confidence, intelligence, beauty, and unwavering loyalty to those who knew her. She approached life with grace and determination, traits that carried her through challenges with a resilient spirit and courageous four-year battle with cancer.
Athenia graduated from Sequoyah High School and Georgia Southern University where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi. Following her BA in Public Relations, she pursued a career in insurance and benefits.
Athenia's greatest joy was being a mom to Brett and Blake. She loved them deeply and was so proud of the young men they are becoming. She and her husband, Don, shared many meaningful and loving years and valued the life and home they built together.
Athenia was the daughter of Mahmood and Debbie Ghavamian and the granddaughter of Habibeh Jafari. She is also survived by her sisters Andrea Ghavamian Henry, Amy Ghavamian Williams(Johnson), and Alisha Ghavamian Barnard(Tim), as well as her nieces, nephews, and many extended family members who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ali Ghavamian, whose memory she carried with love and honor.
Athenia's warmth, wisdom, and kindness made her truly unforgettable. While her absence is felt deeply, her love and light remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Family and friends will gather to honor her life at Lakeside Funeral Home on June 20, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a celebration of her life at 11 a.m. with internment at Rolling Hills Memory Garden.

I did not know Athenia but was privileged to go to her lovely Celebration of Life service. Listening to all the people who loved her speak, I feel that I did get to know her. What a wonderful person and legacy she left. All the people who attended is just proof that she definitely touched the lives of so many. We should all take her cue....live big, love big and laugh big.
My prayer is for peace for all of her family and friends.

I´m so deeply sorry for your loss. Though words can only reach so far in moments like these, I hope they bring even a small measure of comfort knowing how many hearts are with you.

I´ll always remember how Athena seemed to glow with this effortless cool-someone we all admired growing up. Whether it was her confidence, her energy, or the way she made space for fun and joy, she left a mark that stuck with everyone. She had that rare kind of presence that made everything feel a little more exciting, a little more alive.

May her memory continue to shine through the love she gave and the lives she touched. Wishing your family peace, strength, and healing in the days ahead.

Athenia, you brightened every room you entered. You have inspired me and countless others with your grace and positivity in the face of adversity. I will miss you so much, but I will think of the good times we shared and still hear your laughed in my mind, and I'll smile. Thank you for being my friend.

I sat next to Athenia at work. I would listen to her talk with clients and our other colleagues. She had such a warmth about her and even though she sounded like a California Valley Girl, she was so smart. I actively made efforts to become her friend. I knew I wanted to get to know her and have a real bond with her....how could you not!? About 8 years ago I moved to Oregon. Last summer I came to Georgia to see her. Even with her struggle, she was still as sweet as sugar. I will be forever grateful that I was able to see her. Just one last girls lunch, one last hug and one last goodbye. I really loved her. Athenia was one of a kind.

Thank you for being my friend, Athenia. I will always think of you with a smile.
