Graveside services for Barbara Ann Banks, 67 of Ferriday, LA will be held at Doty Road Cemetery on Monday, September, 8, 2025 at 11AM with Rev. Joe Lewis officiating, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.
Barbara was born on Wednesday, September 25, 1957 in New Orleans, LA and passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025 at her home. She danced her way into heaven with the same flair she brought to life. A beloved chef in the French Quarter, she seasoned her dishes with passion and plenty of personality. Known for her sharp tongue and her signature "baby" at the end of nearly every sentence, Barbara could make you laugh, blush, or both in a single breath. She loved a clean house, good music to dance to, and never missed a chance to snap a picture. Fierce, funny, and unforgettable, Barbara lived life with spirit. Though she has left this world, her sass, her warmth, and her one-of-a-kind way with words will echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her brother, James Banks Jr., maternal grandparents, Willie and Ella Barber, paternal grandparents, Littie and Herbie Banks, uncle, Elijah Banks, uncle, Herbie Banks Jr., nephew, Carnell Banks, and her niece, Shannon Banks.
Those left to cherish to memory are her son, Herman Johnson of Houston, TX, daughter, Karee Bob of Conroe, TX, parents, James and Mary Alice Banks of Ferriday, LA, three sisters, Cassandra Banks of Ferriday, LA, Henrene Banks of Ferriday, LA, Marshell Banks of New Orleans, LA, and Edna Harvey of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Jasmine Early and Kaleb Bob, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
