Barbara Louise Cappetta, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024 in Spring Branch Texas.
Barbara was an only child, born December 29, 1929 in Buffalo, New York to John and Jean Gestwick. Both parents were accomplished musicians and Barbara started her music education at 5 yrs old. She was trained as a concert pianist, receiving a music degree from Ithaca College in 1952 and started her career in Springfield,New York as a music teacher. Barbara met Michael Cappetta in college and they married and relocated to San Antonio Texas in 1953. They had 2 children, Wende A Cappetta and Christopher J Cappetta.
Barbara continued her teaching career by providing private piano lessons for many years in San Antonio,Texas during the years she raised her children and cared for her family. She attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church until 2020 and was very interested in Bible study with her son and daughter in law.
She spent many enjoyable years at Hickory Hut BBQ in the 80s and 90s, dazzling her customers with her flair for fashion and more recently enjoyed part time office work for Scott OShea and Joe Merlin, orthobionomy practice. Barbara was a kind and gentle woman with a gift for conversation and she made many beloved friends along the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Jean Gestwick and her husband Michael E. Cappetta.
Barbara is survived by her loving children, Wende Cappetta (Michael Van Dyck) and Christopher J Cappetta (Janie), her grandchildren Shana Moore, Alan Fleckenstein, Christopher B. Cappetta, Brooke Cappetta, and Austin Cappetta, as well as a great grandson(Mikey).
The family wishes to thank New Century Hospice Care for their support and kindness, Veronica Garcia for her dedication and expert care, and Barbara's dear friend Marianne Cox for her unwavering love, chocolate pie and attentiveness for many years.
Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024 1:00pm Holy Cross Cemetery
