Barbara Jean Janssen, age 86, of Burlington, KY, formerly of Spanaway, WA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Born on September 16, 1938, in Wilmington, CA, Barbara was the daughter of the late Peter and Ethel Carsten. Barbara devoted much of her career to the airplane manufacturing industry, where she worked as a Kit Cutter. Known for her precision and dedication, she took pride in her role and the work she did. A woman of many talents, Barbara had a lifelong love of reading, collecting, sewing, and needlepoint. She lovingly created countless handmade keepsakes, leaving behind treasured memories stitched into every piece she crafted for her family. Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Janssen; her son, James Dale Janssen; and all of her siblings and their spouses. She is survived by her son, Phillip Janssen; daughter, Sandra Richard, Carol Janssen, and Linda (Stan) Riches; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom will remember her warmth, creativity, and enduring love. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Barbara's legacy of love and craftsmanship will continue to live on through the generations she inspired and cared for so deeply. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to spend time with loved ones, pass down a family tradition, or create something beautiful in her memory.
