Barbara Josephine (Ramsey) Tuxhorn, age 89 passed away peacefully on Friday morning, August 22, 2025 at Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville. She was a resident of Nashville. Barb was a vibrant spirit who touched the lives of many throughout her 89 years.

Barb was born in Indianapolis on August 17, 1936 to her parents the late Fayette "Earl" and Jeanne (Pollack) Ramsey. She was a 1954 graduate of Howe High School and went on to attend business school in Indianapolis. Barbara retired after 55 years as a Cook & Kitchen Manager for Outdoor Educational Activities Inc., a non-profit organization at Bear Wallow in Brown County, which her late husband founded and directed for over 64 years.

Barb's life was marked by profound love and loss. Barbara was preceded in death on September 17, 2013 by her husband, Ken Edward Tuxhorn, whom she married on November 24, 1956 at Beck Chapel on the campus of Indiana University. Barb was also preceded by her daughter, Jenny Tuxhorn-Thomas in 1979, her mother, Jeanne Johnson; father, Earl Ramsey; step-mother, Lillian Ramsey; step-father, Arthur "Art" Johnson and step-brother, Tim Wright.

In her leisure time, Barb found joy in the pages of novels and the daily newspaper, always eager to explore new stories and ideas. In earlier years, she enjoyed painting landscapes and sewing. A true animal lover, she cherished the companionship of her daughter-in-law's loyal dog, Tucker, who was often her faithful backseat buddy on many adventures to Florida. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Barbara is survived by her son, Bruce (Mary) Tuxhorn of Belmont; grandchildren, Matthew Tuxhorn and Jennifer (Steve) Hiday both of Fishers, and Garrett (Jordan) Tuxhorn of Greenfield; great grandchildren, Andrew and Gavin Hiday and Georgia & Myles Tuxhorn; and half-sister, Fay (Bob) Mauro of Easton, Maryland.

Rev. Darrel Miller will conduct a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26th at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Brown County Memorial Park Cemetery in Nashville.
