John William Walker, age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, August 15, 2025, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was a lifelong resident of Morgantown.

John was born on October 21, 1942, in Indianapolis to the late Ray William and Gerene (Tankersley) Walker. He was a 1961 graduate of Morgantown High School.

He retired in 2002 from the United States Postal Service after more than 41 years of service as a Rural Letter Carrier, however John was more than just a mailman-he was a trusted friend and neighbor. He built lasting relationships with the families along his route, watched generations grow up, and often checked in on those who hadn't picked up their mail, always looking out for others.

John was a proud member of the Indiana Rural Carriers Association and a former member of the Morgantown Lions Club, Woodmen of the World, and a co-founder of the Morgantown Little League Baseball. Additionally, he served as Treasurer for the Morgantown Community Center. John will be remembered for his deep love of community, generous spirit, and lifelong dedication to the well-being of others.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Donna K. (Miers) Walker, his high school sweetheart, whom he married on May 13, 1962 in Morgantown.

He is survived by his son, John Wayne (Stephanie) Walker of Trafalgar; grandchildren, Robert A. "Rob" (Michelle) Walker of Martinsville and his mother, Theresa Anderson of Trafalgar, Katie (Ron) Ray of Greenwood, Amanda (Adam) Teeters of Columbus and Cooper Scrogham of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Sadie Kaye Walker of Martinsville, Atticus, Rowan, and Killian Ray, all of Greenwood, and Clark & Dean Teeters both of Columbus; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Rev. Cleon Wright will conduct a Celebration of Life Service at 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 23rd at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
