Barry White Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carmon Windsor Funeral Home on Feb. 9, 2024.
Barry George White, 69, of Windsor, beloved best friend and life partner for over 24 years of Karen Federowicz, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 5, 2024.
Barry, the son of the late Warren Charles White and May (Carruthers) White, was born in Hartford and raised in Windsor, graduated from Windsor High School, and attended Prince Tech. He learned the art of carpentry from his father and grandfather and went on to a fulfilling and lifelong career as a master carpenter whose talents were utilized by several companies, family, and friends. His love of making wooden toys for special occasions brought smiles to the faces of many children and adults alike.
Barry was a man with a dry, but witty, sense of humor, who enjoyed the simple things in life and loved his family and friends more than anything. He was a kind and gentle man who would give you the shirt off his back, or the last dollar in his pocket, and went out of his way to help anyone in need.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, active Board member of the Windsor Marksmen's Association, and volunteered for several community organizations including The Poquonock Fire Department. Barry enjoyed the serenity of nature, boating, hockey, golfing, and driving his 1987 Caddy that his uncle, Milt, left to him.
In addition to the love of his life, Karen, he is survived by his nieces, Linda Hooper of Enfield, Sharen Cardone and her husband Philip of Ellington, Roxanne Gowdy and her husband Wayne of Tolland, Mary-Beth Cronin and her husband Frank, Debbie Hack and her husband Peter, Jeanne Richards, Susie Richards (Urban), and Tom Richards and his wife Meredith; as well as many other relatives and great friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Shirley May, David Dane, and Wendy Richards; and his niece, Sandy Richards.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Barry.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

I´ve known Barry since we were youngsters in Poquonock school. As we grew older we became close friends. Unfortunately, he was taken from us much too soon. I will truly miss him, as I am sure will everyone, whose lives he touched. Rest in peace my friend. We will be joining you soon enough.

A few of the many hunting and fishing trips that Barry was a part of. He was always ready to be a part of any outdoor adventure. A heart of gold and a friend you could always count on. We will miss you my friend, until we cross paths again.

It was such a pleasure to volunteer and work beside Barry over the years on the WMA board. I will never meet a man more giving of his time, materials and talents. His contributions to the club and fond memories he left with me and, I´m sure, with countless other people, will linger on.

Please accept my sincere condolences on his passing

Barry was one of my very best friends. We graduated together, hunted and fished together, hiked, snowmobiled, but most of all laughed lot together. He was a fixture in both Maureen's and my life. Whether it was babysitting my daughter Erica or helping me on home projects he was always there for us. Rest in peace my friend.
